Stateline Canine offers board and train, valet board and train, day training, private lessons, hybrid training, behavior modification, refresher options, personal protection, K9 sport, search and rescue, police K9 services, and in-home training in select areas.

Where is Stateline Canine located?

Our main training facility is at 581 W Chestnut St, Hanover, PA 17331. We serve clients across Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, including York County, Adams County, Lancaster County, Cumberland County, the Lehigh Valley, Frederick, Montgomery County, Howard County, Towson, Catonsville, White Marsh, Williamsburg and Northern Virginia.

What training methods do you use?

We use motivational, science-based methods. Training is built around low-stress learning, clear criteria and rewarding the behavior we want, which produces obedience that holds up in real-world environments rather than only in the training room.

How long does a board and train program take?

Program length depends on your dog's starting point and your goals. During a free consultation a certified trainer assesses your dog and recommends the program and duration that fits, then sets clear milestones for the stay.

Do you work with aggressive or reactive dogs?

Yes. Behavior modification is one of our core programs. We work with aggression, leash reactivity, fear and anxiety using structured, low-stress protocols, and we are honest with owners about what a realistic outcome looks like for their dog.

What happens after my dog finishes a program?

Every graduate receives lifetime support. That includes handoff coaching so you can maintain the training at home, plus refresher and maintenance options if your dog's obedience needs proofing later on.

Do you offer free consultations?

Do you train police and search and rescue K9s?

Yes. We provide police K9 procurement, patrol and detection training and handler academies for law enforcement agencies, and we develop search and rescue K9s in tracking, trailing and air scenting for handlers working toward deployment-ready certification.

I came in with a puppy that had no manners and all around wild child, hated to admit it but I needed help. After the 4 week day train program I was left with a better mannered pup and all the tools needed to continue to have the best possible relationship and well mannered dog in the future. Everyone was very kind, patient and understanding with me and my wild fur child. I literally couldn’t have asked for a better experience for me and my boy Gunner. They are always friendly, understanding, patient, and happy. I honestly can say the staff is always happy to assist, answer questions, and are there every step of the way. They take care of our dog during the day just like I would want for my children. When she has had accidents, they bathe her. When she has an upset belly, they tell us. When we had to reschedule, they worked with us without a problem. When we are doing training, they are able to also laugh with us & dont make us feel “dumb”. Its only been 3 weeks and its like I have a new dog. I have more confidence from their support and our life has started to become easier for all of us. As a new dog owner I was extremely nervous to make sure I was doing all the right things. They were extremely helpful during and after training. The end result is the perfect adventure buddy. She went from a bit of unpredictable puppy to a fun companion and I feel very grateful I took the leap. Stateline gave me the tools needed to maintain everything Wayland learned along the way and it’s been a massive bonus to have a trusted place to board her. The amount of experience, knowledge, and valuable information she shared was incredible. I left with so much to think about and apply, and it was one of the most impactful and educational dog training experiences I’ve had.

I’ve also attended Shawn Edwards seminars, and those were amazing as well. Both bring so much experience, insight, and real-world knowledge to the table, and it’s clear how much they have to offer the dog training community.

I have also previously used State Line for other seminars and events, and every experience there has been excellent. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and set up really well for dogs and handlers. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and welcoming, and it’s absolutely a place I would trust with my dog anytime.

After 3 weeks of training she was ready to come home. The staff was great throughout her training. We received numerous phone calls and text messages about her during her training. On pick up day we never felt rushed by the staff and they were great with going over all the commands with all 3 of us. I would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a great service at a fair and reasonable price

No, our specific Refresher Options and Mini Maintenance Stays are exclusively reserved for dogs that have previously graduated from a comprehensive Stateline Canine program (such as our Board & Train or Hybrid packages).

It is highly unlikely they forgot everything! Dogs are contextual learners. Usually, they just need a quick, structured reminder in a professional setting to jog their memory. Our scientific methods bring those past lessons back to the surface rapidly.

Absolutely. If your dog's obedience is already perfect, you can absolutely book a refresher session to introduce fun new skills, advanced off-leash maneuvers, or basic K9 sport concepts.

While the Hybrid program is excellent for moderate behavioral issues and leash reactivity, cases of severe human or dog aggression often require the highly controlled, 24/7 environment of an immersive Board and Train. We will honestly evaluate your dog to recommend the safest path for your family.
