While Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and Rottweilers are among the most common sport breeds, drive and temperament matter far more than breed alone. We have developed competitive sport dogs from breeds that surprised everyone in the ring.
Not necessarily. Many sport dogs begin with us at the foundation level with little to no formal prior training. What matters at the start is drive, temperament, and health, not an existing obedience résumé. We will assess your dog and place them appropriately in whatever program fits where they are today.
When conducted by properly credentialed trainers in a structured, controlled environment which is precisely the standard we hold ourselves to. Protection sport training is no more dangerous than any other high-activity canine discipline. Safety protocols are non-negotiable at Stateline Canine, and all bite work is conducted with sport-trained decoys, appropriate equipment, and an expert eye on every session.
That depends entirely on the dog's starting point, natural drives, and the specific trial level being targeted. A highly driven dog entering our Competitive Development Program may be trial-ready within a few months. A dog beginning from scratch with complex drive work may require a longer runway. We give you an honest, realistic projection after the evaluation not a number designed to close a sale.
