Everything we do is rooted in motivational science. We build an obsessive desire to hunt by channeling the dog's natural prey and play drives. The result is a dog that wants to track, not one that has been pressured into it. Our guiding rule is simple: set the dog up to succeed at every stage, then raise the challenge incrementally.
Not at all. While Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and Bloodhounds dominate the working dog world for good reason, breed alone does not determine a dog's potential. What we are looking for is hunt drive, environmental confidence, and the mental resilience to work through hard problems. We have seen those qualities in dogs of many different breeds.
Your K9 will work directly with Tarheel Canine certified Master Trainers, the highest credential in professional working dog instruction. Our staff has more than two decades of combined experience and has prepared over one hundred active law enforcement and search and rescue teams for real-world duty.
Yes. While search and rescue and operational K9 development are our specialties, we also offer comprehensive obedience training and behavior rehabilitation through our standard programs. If you have a family dog in Howard County that needs structure, we can help with that too.
It depends on the dog and the handler, and there is no honest way around that. Genetics, prior experience, and the consistency of training between sessions all factor in. That said, most teams working through our full curriculum are prepared for mock certification within a few months of completing their program.
