Healing the Mind

Behaviors We Successfully Rehabilitate

Leash Reactivity

Transform high-stress walks into calm outings by teaching your dog how to ignore other dogs, people, or vehicles.

Fear & Social Anxiety

Helping "shutdown" dogs build confidence through positive reinforcement and controlled exposure to new environments.

Resource Guarding

Safely addressing aggressive behaviors related to food, toys, or sleeping areas to ensure a safe household for everyone.

Human or Dog Aggression

Specialized protocols to identify triggers and implement safe, effective counter-conditioning and desensitization.

Separation Anxiety

Building your dog's ability to remain calm and relaxed when left alone, reducing destructive behaviors and vocalization.

General Insecurity

Providing a clear structure and "language" that helps anxious dogs feel secure and guided by their owner.

Owner Empowerment

We provide you with the technical skills and the psychological understanding to lead your dog through their recovery with confidence.

Our Scientific Process for Behavior Change

We follow a rigorous, ethical process to ensure your dog’s safety and psychological well-being:

Root Cause Discovery

We look beyond the bark or bite to understand the emotional driver—whether it’s fear, frustration, or predatory drive.

Environmental Management

We immediately implement "safety first" protocols to prevent the dog from practicing the unwanted behavior while we work on the fix.

Counter-Conditioning

Using motivational rewards, we change your dog's emotional response to their triggers from "threat" to "neutral" or "positive."

Skill Building

We teach your dog alternative behaviors to perform when they feel overwhelmed, giving them a constructive outlet for their energy.

Owner Education

We spend significant time coaching you on how to read subtle body language so you can advocate for your dog before a blow-up happens.

A Safer Community for Lancaster Dog Owners

Our mission is to make Lancaster County a safer, more dog-friendly place. We work with families in Lititz, Ephrata, Manheim, and beyond to help dogs that have been deemed "unfixable." We believe that every dog deserves a chance at a low-stress life, and every owner deserves to feel safe and confident with their pet.

I can’t begin to explain how helpful and wonderful all the staff and trainers were to me and my boy Gunner. I came in with a puppy that had no manners and all around wild child, hated to admit it but I needed help. After the 4 week day train program I was left with a better mannered pup and all the tools needed to continue to have the best possible relationship and well mannered dog in the future. Everyone was very kind, patient and understanding with me and my wild fur child. I literally couldn’t have asked for a better experience for me and my boy Gunner. Thank you again everyone that worked with me and Gunner, continuing with what me and him were taught you guys gave me the perfect stepping stones to having a well mannered pup in the future.

We take our GSD to Stateline in Hanover. First, we could not ask for a better team to work with our dog. They are always friendly, understanding, patient, and happy. I honestly can say the staff is always happy to assist, answer questions, and are there every step of the way. They take care of our dog during the day just like I would want for my children. When she has had accidents, they bathe her. When she has an upset belly, they tell us. When we had to reschedule, they worked with us without a problem. When we are doing training, they are able to also laugh with us & dont make us feel “dumb”. Its only been 3 weeks and its like I have a new dog. I have more confidence from their support and our life has started to become easier for all of us. We will forever be grateful for Stateline & all of the staff.

I wanted to share how amazing Austin the trainer is. He did a fantastic job with our 2 year old Cane Corso Ellie Mae. We were at our wits end. She wanted nothing to do with the mussel. Within an hour he had mastered it. It was unbelievable. I would highly recommend Austin and the team at Stateline Canine.

Can’t say enough good things about all my experiences with Sateline. As a new dog owner I was extremely nervous to make sure I was doing all the right things. They were extremely helpful during and after training. The end result is the perfect adventure buddy. She went from a bit of unpredictable puppy to a fun companion and I feel very grateful I took the leap. Stateline gave me the tools needed to maintain everything Wayland learned along the way and it’s been a massive bonus to have a trusted place to board her. I think sometimes she doesn’t even want to leave when I pick her up lol. Shout out to Naomi and all the other professional trainers for their help and great care of Wayland. Great investment and your little one is in good hands with Stateline. Thanks again!

I recently attended a Janet Edwards seminar, and it was truly life-changing. The amount of experience, knowledge, and valuable information she shared was incredible. I left with so much to think about and apply, and it was one of the most impactful and educational dog training experiences I’ve had. I’ve also attended Shawn Edwards seminars, and those were amazing as well. Both bring so much experience, insight, and real-world knowledge to the table, and it’s clear how much they have to offer the dog training community. I have also previously used State Line for other seminars and events, and every experience there has been excellent. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and set up really well for dogs and handlers. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and welcoming, and it’s absolutely a place I would trust with my dog anytime. If you’re looking for a professional dog training facility, high-quality dog training seminars, and experienced people who truly know dogs, I would absolutely recommend State Line.

Great place for training. We took our shelter rescue staffy mix here for boarding and training. After 3 weeks of training she was ready to come home. The staff was great throughout her training. We received numerous phone calls and text messages about her during her training. On pick up day we never felt rushed by the staff and they were great with going over all the commands with all 3 of us. I would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a great service at a fair and reasonable price

Frequently Asked Questions About Behavior Modification

Very few dogs are truly beyond help. We specialize in high-risk cases and have a high success rate with dogs that have bite histories or severe trauma. An evaluation is the first step to determining a realistic path forward.

We use a scientific, motivational approach that prioritizes the dog’s emotional state. We focus on building a language of communication and confidence, only using the minimum amount of pressure necessary to ensure safety and clarity.

Behavior modification is a marathon, not a sprint. While you will see management improvements immediately, deep emotional rehabilitation typically takes several weeks to months of consistent work.

Yes! In fact, your involvement is mandatory. For the training to stick, you must learn how to be the advocate and leader your dog needs in the real world.
