We build on motivational and scientifically validated methods with no aversive shortcuts. By tapping into a dog's natural prey drive and play instinct, we create a working dog that hunts not because it has to, but because it genuinely wants to. Our guiding principle is the same one our lead trainer lives by: set the dog up for success on every single rep.
Not at all. While Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and Bloodhounds are common in the SAR world, breed alone does not determine capability. What we are evaluating is hunt drive, environmental nerve, and willingness to problem-solve under pressure. We have seen impressive aptitude in dogs you would not expect, and we have seen classic working breeds wash out. The individual always tells us more than the pedigree.
Your dog works with Certified Master Trainers credentialed through Tarheel Canine, one of the most respected working dog credentialing bodies in the country. Our lead staff collectively bring over two decades of hands-on experience preparing operational K9 teams for law enforcement agencies across the United States.
Our SAR and sport programs are purpose-built for serious working dogs and their handlers. That said, if you are a civilian who simply wants a highly engaged tracking dog for recreation or competition, we can talk through the right pathway. For family pets needing obedience or behavioral help, our other training programs are the better fit.
It depends, and anyone who gives you a firm answer without meeting your dog first is guessing. The dog's genetic potential and your consistency as a handler are the two biggest variables. Expect several months of committed, structured work before a truly dependable operational dog is ready. Our job is to build the foundation as efficiently and correctly as possible; your job is to maintain it.
