The Standard for Canine Rehabilitation in Central PA

Fixing severe behavioral problems requires far more than basic obedience; it demands a profound understanding of canine psychology. Our headquarters serves York County residents who are exhausted from dealing with lunging, biting, or crippling anxiety, providing a highly structured environment where true healing, trust-building, and learning can safely occur.

Comprehensive Behavior Modification Solutions

Unpredictable or dangerous behavior doesn't mean your dog is a lost cause. Stateline Canine delivers premier behavior modification tailored to the specific needs of York County pet parents. Instead of suppressing bad behaviors with harsh conflict or fear, we dig deep into your dog's temperament to address the underlying insecurity or lack of impulse control driving the issue. Using scientifically sound, motivational methods, we create a low-stress learning environment where your dog learns how to make better choices. We gradually and safely introduce real-world triggers from loud noises to other animals generalizing their new, calm mindset so you can confidently navigate your neighborhood again.

  • Expertise in severe cases, including human aggression, dog reactivity, and resource guarding.
  • Deep temperament analysis to identify the "why" behind your dog's dangerous behaviors.
  • A strict adherence to scientific, motivational methods that build confidence, not fear.
  • Controlled exposure to triggers in our secure, specialized Central PA training facility.
  • We prioritize handler safety and education, empowering you to maintain the rehabilitation.

Rehab Objectives

Core Focus Areas for Behavior Modification

Leash Reactivity

We address the lunging, barking, and spinning that happen on walks, teaching your dog to remain neutral and focused on you when passing triggers.

Fear & Anxiety

We use systematic desensitization to help terrified or shut-down dogs build confidence, teaching them that the world is a safe place.

Resource Guarding

If your dog aggressively protects food, toys, or furniture, we safely modify this behavior to create a cooperative, stress-free household.

Dog-on-Dog Aggression

We safely evaluate and rehabilitate dogs that cannot coexist with other animals, utilizing highly controlled setups and neutral helper dogs.

Human Aggression

We take bite histories seriously. We establish strict boundaries, clear communication, and absolute handler control to mitigate dangerous liabilities.

Impulse Control

Many behavioral issues stem from a lack of patience. We build a massive foundation of impulse control, teaching your dog to think before reacting.

Handler Empowerment

We dedicate hours to teaching you how to read canine body language, manage environments, and safely handle your dog in high-stress moments.

The Stateline Journey: How Rehabilitation Works

We use a highly structured, transparent process to ensure safety and long-term success for your family:

The Behavioral Assessment

We meet with you and your dog to safely evaluate their triggers, bite history, and underlying temperament to determine the correct path forward.

The Custom Blueprint

Leveraging scientific methods, we create a specialized rehabilitation plan that addresses the specific psychological drives causing your dog's outbursts.

The Immersive Rehab

Your dog enters our secure facility. We begin with low-stress foundational work, slowly building up their tolerance to real-world triggers at a pace they can handle.

The Handler Empowerment

Rehabilitation fails if the owner doesn't know what to do. We extensively train you on safety protocols, handling mechanics, and how to maintain leadership.

The Lifelong Support

Managing severe behavior is a lifelong journey. We provide a lifetime guarantee on our rehab programs so you always have an expert in your corner.

Serving York County and Surrounding PA Communities

We understand that living with a reactive or aggressive dog shrinks your world. You stop having guests over, you walk at midnight to avoid neighbors, and you live in constant stress. Our Hanover-based facility is a beacon of hope for struggling pet parents throughout York County, Dallastown, and Red Lion. Our mission is to repair the communication between you and your dog, utilizing generalized training to ensure they can exist peacefully in society once again.

I can’t begin to explain how helpful and wonderful all the staff and trainers were to me and my boy Gunner. I came in with a puppy that had no manners and all around wild child, hated to admit it but I needed help. After the 4 week day train program I was left with a better mannered pup and all the tools needed to continue to have the best possible relationship and well mannered dog in the future. Everyone was very kind, patient and understanding with me and my wild fur child. I literally couldn’t have asked for a better experience for me and my boy Gunner. Thank you again everyone that worked with me and Gunner, continuing with what me and him were taught you guys gave me the perfect stepping stones to having a well mannered pup in the future.

We take our GSD to Stateline in Hanover. First, we could not ask for a better team to work with our dog. They are always friendly, understanding, patient, and happy. I honestly can say the staff is always happy to assist, answer questions, and are there every step of the way. They take care of our dog during the day just like I would want for my children. When she has had accidents, they bathe her. When she has an upset belly, they tell us. When we had to reschedule, they worked with us without a problem. When we are doing training, they are able to also laugh with us & dont make us feel “dumb”. Its only been 3 weeks and its like I have a new dog. I have more confidence from their support and our life has started to become easier for all of us. We will forever be grateful for Stateline & all of the staff.

I wanted to share how amazing Austin the trainer is. He did a fantastic job with our 2 year old Cane Corso Ellie Mae. We were at our wits end. She wanted nothing to do with the mussel. Within an hour he had mastered it. It was unbelievable. I would highly recommend Austin and the team at Stateline Canine.

Can’t say enough good things about all my experiences with Sateline. As a new dog owner I was extremely nervous to make sure I was doing all the right things. They were extremely helpful during and after training. The end result is the perfect adventure buddy. She went from a bit of unpredictable puppy to a fun companion and I feel very grateful I took the leap. Stateline gave me the tools needed to maintain everything Wayland learned along the way and it’s been a massive bonus to have a trusted place to board her. I think sometimes she doesn’t even want to leave when I pick her up lol. Shout out to Naomi and all the other professional trainers for their help and great care of Wayland. Great investment and your little one is in good hands with Stateline. Thanks again!

I recently attended a Janet Edwards seminar, and it was truly life-changing. The amount of experience, knowledge, and valuable information she shared was incredible. I left with so much to think about and apply, and it was one of the most impactful and educational dog training experiences I’ve had. I’ve also attended Shawn Edwards seminars, and those were amazing as well. Both bring so much experience, insight, and real-world knowledge to the table, and it’s clear how much they have to offer the dog training community. I have also previously used State Line for other seminars and events, and every experience there has been excellent. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and set up really well for dogs and handlers. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and welcoming, and it’s absolutely a place I would trust with my dog anytime. If you’re looking for a professional dog training facility, high-quality dog training seminars, and experienced people who truly know dogs, I would absolutely recommend State Line.

Great place for training. We took our shelter rescue staffy mix here for boarding and training. After 3 weeks of training she was ready to come home. The staff was great throughout her training. We received numerous phone calls and text messages about her during her training. On pick up day we never felt rushed by the staff and they were great with going over all the commands with all 3 of us. I would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a great service at a fair and reasonable price
Common Inquiries

Frequently Asked Questions About Behavior Modification

Behavior modification is about management, impulse control, and changing mindsets. While we achieve incredible transformations, dogs with deep genetic aggression or neurological issues may always require a responsible, educated handler to manage their environment safely. We are always honest with you about realistic expectations during the evaluation.

Safety is our top priority. If a dog has a bite history, we will properly and positively condition them to wear a well-fitted basket muzzle. Muzzles are fantastic, low-stress tools that prevent liabilities while allowing the dog to safely explore and rehabilitate in public spaces.

For severe cases of aggression, reactivity, or deep fear, immersive Board & Train is usually required. It removes the dog from their practiced environment and allows our professionals to safely handle the most dangerous phases of the rehabilitation process before turning the leash over to you.

This is exactly why we include a Lifetime Follow-Up Guarantee with our 4 and 6-week immersive rehab programs! If your dog starts slipping back into old habits, you simply contact us, and we will provide free refresher lessons to get you both back on track.
